FUND IT FORWARD received this letter from Trey's mom:
We are asking for help in getting an above ground pool for our son with special needs.
I have twin boys who are 15 years old and both suffered brain damage at birth. They both suffer from several medical issues and have been given the diagnosis of Multiple Birth Defects Syndrome. However, Trey suffered the worse brain damage during birth and he now has been titled Medically Fragile and has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy with no cure. Trey suffers from as many as 100 seizures a day.... two months ago he had 600 grand mal seizures in 8 days. With that he lost his ability to walk, talk and use his right side of his body. This has happen 3 times to him so far in the past 6 months. He is currently home bound for school and has
never been able to attend school for a full year due to his medical condition. Trey has several other medical
issues including mild cerebral palsy, bone disorder, low muscle tone, psychomotor tetardation epilepsy, incontinence, developmental and fine motor delays and scoliosis to name a few...
Trey loves the water, it's the one place you are sure to see a HUGE smile on his face.... and to him getting in the pool and moving his legs and arms around doesn't feel like therapy... there are no big melt downs while in
the pool. Aquatic therapy promotes motor, cognitive and social development. It can improve circulation, strength and endurance, flexibility, balance and coordination. Range of motion and muscle tone are all the things that are lacking in Trey.
